Hey all. I realized that, while I updated my mailing list on these things, I never posted a public statement on my website or put anything out on social media. In my endless quest to get better at the internet, I’m here to remedy that problem now.
First of all, the bad news. Book five is going to be delayed until March. It’s almost finished, and this delay isn’t my doing. Some of you may have heard what’s happened, but during the commission for the cover of book five, I was forced to sever my relationship with the artist.
Now the good news–I found one, and he’s redoing all the covers as we speak. I’ve already got the artwork for book one, and it’s outstanding. Here–take a look now.
Awesome, right? I know. I’m excited.
For business reasons on which I won’t elaborate–I don’t want to bore you–this entire debacle necessitates a relaunch. It will take time to get the next four pieces of cover art and then catch up to book five, and a launch with an odd cover just doesn’t work in the current market. It’s a risk on my part, but I have to relaunch the entire series. All the reviews and everything the series has garnered up to now will be gone. Wiped from the net.
None of you, of course, will be losing the books you’ve already bought. This doesn’t mean that you all who are waiting on book five will have to go back and read from book one again–no. You all just have to wait until March. I’ll be releasing free chapters in the weeks leading to book five’s release, by the way. If you want those, you’ll have to join the Conclave.
For new readers, or those who’ve read The Killings at Rockman’s Ford and haven’t yet bought the following books, there’s really good news. The first three books have been re-edited, and so the newer books will have fresh edits, fresh revisions, and fresh artwork. This is not just a repackaging–these will be all new products, so new readers and old-hats will have something new to enjoy if they so wish.
All the books leading up to book five, The Oath of the Blade, will launch at 0.99 for one week before settling on their normal prices. That way, the old-hats can grab the new books at a discount if they want, but again, this is not necessary to follow the story. If you’re waiting on book five, you can just pick up book five in March. The only difference will be the cover art.
Child of the Flames, by the way, will be 0.99 all the time.
I’ll be relaunching the series at the end of this month. I’m halfway through the re-edit of Child of the Flames and expect to move on to books two and three directly after. Child of the Flames will relaunch on the 22nd. The original plan was the 15th, but events have necessitated moving the date back. The books will drop every two weeks after that until we’re back on track in March with book five. Book six will follow by June.
The Seven Signs will be finished by the summertime, and I’ll be moving on to my next series. It’s either going to be motorcycles in other worlds, or airships and magic. I’m leaning toward airships.
I’m taking a big risk with relaunching this series, but it’s necessary. Losing all those amazing reviews, especially in the U.K., is going to hurt. I’m asking for your support in this, and I hope those who love the books will love the newer versions even more. I can tell you 100% that they’re better, and will better reflect my current writing style and voice.
Much love, more to follow, speak with you all soon.
