Hey, all.
Just wanted to let you all know that I’m revamping things here behind the scenes. Reward tiers have changed without anyone currently losing rewards. I’ve simply removed some tiers that no one was on and simplified the entire approach.
I’ve renamed some things, too. When I built this Patreon… well, your first idea is never your best idea. So I’ve done away with the Roman theme, the whole Senate metaphor, etc. The names that sound like something from the annals of a dusty old church.
Yeah, I’m sorry about that.
I’m focusing this year on simplifying my business approach and making my core audience the center of my efforts. I’m trying to deliver quality and make it simple for all of you. Some pruning was necessary to achieve this, and I think we’ll all be happy with the changes.
Here they are:
There will no longer be a $3.00 tier, to start. Since there are no more equites, I renamed the Codex Equitum to a monthly dispatch called The Bleeding Edge. It’s the same thing–the monthly dispatch with all my works-in-progress. It just has a better name and a better cover.
The podcast also needs a non-Roman themed title, so I’m calling it Beyond the Pale. It always takes me a while to solidify an idea, and the format of the podcast took a few episodes (like ten or so, no one’s counting) to emerge. It will feature a story to open, probably from history or a conspiracy theory or a mystery, and then include writing updates and book promotions. You don’t need to do anything, resubscribe, juggle your phone–nothing. It’s all handled already.
Also, Beyond the Pale will not simply be my writing updates and blog. It will feature a story every episode, or at least a musing worth listening to, so that it delivers quality in itself. The podcast remains 100% free.
Free memberships are still allowed, and I will now have the first chapter/piece/scene of every work-in-progress available for free members. These will not be posted in ebook format, and will only be available on the Patreon site.
To replace the $3 tier, I am instead making it possible for readers to buy a single issue of The Bleeding Edge for $3. To be clear–that purchase point only applies to that single issue of The Bleeding Edge, not monthly access. That will go into effect when the next issue posts around March 15th, give or take a few days.
Also, posts will be disappearing. Collections will change. Do not be alarmed. No one is losing access to things–quite the opposite, actually. When the dust settles, this Patreon will be streamlined and operating like a greased bearing.
Talk soon.
